How the years have changed. From a Snowmagedden to  a BBC weather  report for January 2022 which says January 2022 was the sunniest since 1959.

How things change!

Resin bonded stone historically was a fair weather option.  Usually associated with Spring and Summer.  However look at January last year and you would have to say that is not so! Unless they have moved January to another Season?

Over the past 15 to 20 years  resin bonded stone demand has increased massively.  The reasons for this are varied. Suppliers and installers would say –

speed of install   durablity    attractiveness   permeability    versality  anti slip properties

and these are just a few of the benefits!

Perhaps the best marketing position every business is vying for is helping its rise in popularity  according to Google? 

If we compare the previous standards 

Block paving      concrete    tarmac  imprinted concrete   slabbs

you could ask what do they have that resin doesn’t – or vice versa!

We have always said one shoe does not fit all!  The more alternatives we have available means consumers have choice.

The ability to use what is the best fit or most suitable is always a bonus.

Grass where concrete was is not necessarily the right choice for you (eg if you  want to park cars on your drive) .  However it may well be totally fit for purpose for your neighbour for eg  who wants less of a hardstanding  garden area.

          Resin bonded driveway edging is something we do get asked about.  However resin bonded driveways paths and patios do not necessarily  require this.  Nothing is standard.  Each individual drive, surface, finish and requirement is client specific.

Our resin bonded stone is not the same as resin bound.  Resin bonded stone does not have to be applied to the depth required by resin bound surfacing.  Resin bonded stone does not necessarily need the same surface as a resin bound.  These basic differences can not only make a difference as to whether edgings are required or but they can also make a difference to the overall cost.

Sometimes edgings are a requirement of the client rather than a requirement of the install.

Resin bonded stone resurfacing covers what is in place – existing concrete and tarmac.  It does not provide a brand     new surface.  Resin bonded stone therefore does not affect existing levels and does not  actually require edgings to install.

Resin bonded stone can be installed on surfaces which already have edgings in place – i.e. stone setts or block paving.  This therefore means that as our resin does not affect existing levels and can be applied on the existing tarmac, concrete or imprinted concrete and will finish neatly without affecting the existing edgings.

Coloured or natural edgings or a coloured or natural finish –  the choices are there.

We have been completing resin bonded stone resurfacing works for nearly 20 years.  We first started to record images and historical resin bonded stone works on our website information in 2012.  However our records go further back thank this.

Our original resin bonded stone works were completed with an Epoxy product but over the years and with development in technology we moved on to polyurethane which is a much improved resin.

Thank you for your email.  Guilty as charged!   that  was me on “outandabout live”! 

Simon has looked at your images and based on an assumption that the levels are not too differing on the different sections, with good prep works the resin bonded stone should be able to be resurfaced.  As with all works its about a site visit and good prep work. 

You are correct we are too far to be able to complete the works.  However there are 2 National companies who have installers in different areas.  Just remember and be aware a lot of companies favour the bound (requiring the existing surface to be removed).  However with resin bonded this is designed to resurface existing surfaces. 

Addagrip seem to work more with resin bonded  so I would start with them first.  Also if you look local – shopping centres and walk ways –  you will probably find works completed – contact the council and see if they can tell you who installed the surface and whilst they may be commercial and bound-  they may well be able to recommend a local installer.

Imprinted concrete, tarmac or concrete we can resurface (subject to a site survey).   Anti slip and virtually weedfree.  No mess and no disruption and no or minimum  costly landfill disposal requirements.  Our resurfacing option does not affect existing surfaces.

What are the resin drive covering base requirements if I want to resurface my driveway?

What will be the cost for an anti skid resin drive covering for my concrete base?

We do get asked a lot about the anti skid resin surfacing covering base requirements which basically is concrete or tarmac.  Having said that we can work with imprinted concrete which can be quite slippery and slabs  but the basic resin drive covering base requirements will ultimately vary from client to client.

Some concrete surfaces are too rough, damaged or cracked for the anti skid resin surfacing but we offer free no obligation visits and will only surface what is truly suitable.

We have been in touch today with an alternative supplier and part of our chat was about resin bound and whether this can be an option for providing an anti slip surface for a base such as concrete and or tarmac.  They agreed that the resin bound would not be a realistic covering as the resin bound needs a porous base to ensure the free draining.
