RESIN BONDED  GRAVEL  a to z

 A IS FOR AGGREGATE

Here at Drive-Cote Ltd  we use a variety of natural stone granules.  All selected for their strength and durability. There is a variety of colours available  and they range  from natural quartz and granite to bauxite.  We also use coloured granules which are natural granules that go through a polyester colouring process.  The enables our  customers  to choose virtually any colour required.

B IS FOR BAUXITE

Bauxite is an aluminium ore which is renowned for it’s strength and durability.  This is usually imported from China and it is usually found in two main colours – Grey and Buff.

C IS FOR COVERAGE

Resin Bonded Gravel is designed to be applied to existing monolithic surfaces.  For example  – tarmac, imprinted concrete and concrete.  Coverage can be  affected by porosity and texture and requires specialist knowledge to  apply.  The thickness of coating is usually 5-8mm.  At this depth existing levels (for example damp proof courses are not affected.

D IS FOR DECORATIVE

Decorative designs and borders are all possible with Resin Bonded Gravel.  We have found that borders in a contrasting colour have always been popular.  We can  offer a design service as well. This can enable an individual and  bespoke project.

E IS FOR ENVIRONMENT

Resin Bonded Gravel is classed as an environmentally friendly product.  The polyurethane Resin is a non toxic inert substance.  This combined with the natural stone granules means a low carbon footprint.

F IS FOR FILLERS

All our projects are pre-filled with our specialist flexible fillers enabling expansion and contraction.  Pot holes and cracks are cleaned and filled prior to the application of our resurfacing with Resin Bonded Gravel

G IS FOR GRANULES

The most common size of granules for a Resin Bonded driveway, path or patio is 2-5mm.  This size gives maximum grip and antiskid properties though out all seasons.  We can advise and guide with the most suitable granule for each  project

H IS FOR HARDNESS

All our stone granule media is tested by universal Newton Crush Strength Test.  This ensures against future wearing and grinding caused by continual car  tyre turning and wearing.

I  IS FOR INCIDENTAL DAMAGE

Resin Bonded Gravel  can at any stage in the future be repaired due to incidental damage such as pipe excavations, laying of cable and utility repairs. Like with tarmac and concrete it is very difficult to invisibly repair.  Weathering occurs as a part of a natural process.

 J IS FOR JOINTS

Our Resin Bonded Gravel provides a seamless surface.  A uniform monolithic surface which offers flexibility and  crack resistance.  One of the key benefits to this being a weed free surface requiring virtually no maintenance.

K IS FOR KNOWLEDGE

Our installers have a wealth of knowledge accumulated through training, product knowledge and 12 years of installing.

L IS FOR LOCAL AUTHORITY

Planning permission  now required in certain circumstances.  If an old driveway is excavated and removed it may be necessary  to apply.  Proof of drainage (suds) is required on NEW SURFACES if they are over a certain size.  This does not apply with Resin Bonded Gravel as we use existing surfaces.

M IS FOR MAINTENANCE

All new Resin Bonded Gravel surfaces are virtually maintenance free.  We recommend a sweep or power wash every 12 months.  This can restore the surface to that just laid look.

N IS FOR NEWLY LAID SURFACES

Resin Bonded Gravel  is a perfect partner for both old and new surfaces.  However new surfaces do require a short “curing” time prior to any applications. We will advise with regards to this.

O IS FOR OVERLAY

Different surfaces that can be overlaid include concrete, tarmac, wood, metals. The choice of aggregate used  for the individual surface is crucial to ensure excellent coverage and longevity.  The variety of granules available allow for choice.

P IS FOR POLYEURETHANE

All our Resin Bonded Gravel products are polyurethane based.  This ensures a strong long lasting durable and flexible answer to all driveway, path and patio resurfacing  applications.

Q IS FOR QUESTIONS

Here at Drive-Cote we are always available to answer  questions.  We aim to be  informative and non-biased.   We try and advise  in a fair manner with regard to  Resin Bonded Gravel applications.  If we can’t help we will try and direct you to an alternative source.

R IS FOR RESURFACING

Our product is based on the theory of “if it’s not broke don’t fix it!”  Why rip out a structurally sound area that might look unsightly and tired but is perfectly suitable after cleaning and filling.   It is then used as  a base for our Resin Bonded Gravel.

S IS FOR SUDS

Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems – meaning surface water and drainage methods and devices.  They are designed to tackle excess water in an economical and sustainable manner.  We can advise on the options available if applicable.

T IS FOR TEMPERATURE

Resin Bonded Gravel  has  seasonal limitations on application.  Existing surfaces have to be dry and air temperature has to be 5 °c  and above.

U is for UV STABLE

All our polyurethane Resin is UV stable which means it is able to withstand the harsh environment of the sun and the British climate.  Being UV stable  ensures it does not degrade  or affect our  Resin Bonded Gravel

V IS FOR VALUE FOR MONEY

Resin Bonded  Gravel applications offer a very cost effective and convenient alternative to the usual block paving, concrete and imprinted concrete options.

W IS FOR WEATHER

Resin Bonded Gravel can be a very dictorial product with regard to the weather –  temperature, humidity and damp.  Particular attention is taken  by  our Drive-Cote Ltd  staff  to ensure we meet all required criteria for correct installations.

X IS FOR XEROTHERMIC (very hot and little rainfall)

Unfortunately we at Drive-Cote Ltd  are not troubled too often with this.

Y IS FOR YORKSHIRE DRIVEWAYS

We have completed numerous Resin Bonded Gravel works through Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Yorkshire.  We at  Drive-Cote Ltd offer a personal service and like to aim for excellent customer service.  Ring and have a chat.  All talks are free!

Z IS FOR ZONES

Due to the fact that Resin Bonded Gravel does not affect existing levels we are able to section of zones if resurfacing is not a requirement for all areas.  5 to 8mm is the maximum depth of our Resin Bonded Gravel works which is the advantage our product has over the usual surfacing options.
