Kimberley  tarmac driveway resurfacing with Resin Bonded Aggregate

This old and tired tarmac driveway in Kimberley was having a new lease of life with our Resin Bonded Aggregate resurfacing  option.

  • The problem-   Tired and old degrading  tarmac with a small puddle situation near the front door
  • The solution-    Resurfacing with Resin Bonded Aggregate and minor works to address the puddling.

THE RESULT

An anti slip attractive durable and protective finish –  Resin Bonded Aggregate

TIME SPAN

1 day to prep   1 day to resurface.  No mess!   No disruption!   No skips!  No waste removal!

We have  already completed a cut out to form a soakaway  to alleviate the small puddling.  This  is approximately 2 ft long and 6 inches wide and in filled with a decorative/free draining detail (another option would be to provide small drainage holes on completing the Resin Bonded Aggregate). Either way this will allow free draining of this very small puddle.

Not an overly large job (less than 50sqm)  and with the driveway there is  easy access  for both vehicles and workmen.  The property benefits from a well kept and well established  garden area and the client wanted to bring the old tired tarmac driveway up to standard.

The tarmac is actually structurally sound but over the period  of time( in excess of 20 years)  the tarmac was degrading and breaking up.  (So if its not broke don’t fix it !)  The current fall of the driveway is directed to a large gulley which supports all drainage  and will continue to do so.  Our Resin Bonded Aggregate  will  not affect this

Prior to the Resin Bonded Aggregate resurfacing option this clients  choice would probably have been  to have the tarmac removed .  Then possibly had to apply for planning permission with an alternative surface such as block paving, imprinted concrete or concrete installed.  Or  reinstall tarmac.  Time consuming,  invasive and messy.  Unlike Resin Bonded Aggregate resurfacing

The existing levels are currently fine and with the Resin Bonded Aggregate our Kimberely clients will benefit from an attractive. durable and anti slip and virtually maintenance free  surface without affecting existing levels.

The lads are out today installing the Resin Bonded Aggregate and I will update this information later with some images.
