resin bound gravel maintenance
resin bound gravel maintenance is a must if you want to maintain porosity and permeability for your driveway, path or patio. This process will ensure minimum adhesion by weeds, seeds and help prevent the ingress of general ever day dirt on your driveway path or patio.
Household detergent is more than adequate if resin bound gravel maintenance is maintained on a yearly basis. With the current excess rainfall and varying degrees in temperature, your resin bound gravel driveway path or patio can be a breeding ground for weeds, moss and algae. We have found over the past few years this is becoming a more and more prevalent problem. A jet wash is suitable as long as it is not blasted at the surface. The benefit of permeability is also a disadvantage when it comes to stress – either by way of vehicle weight or extreme pressure which some jet wash systems can exert. If jet washing is your choice for cleaning ensure the fan spray is on a wide setting rather than on a concentrate point.
Weeds will always find a way to embed in a porous surface, so ideally regular maintenance and weed control with a standard over the counter weed killer will manage this problem.
One of the enquiries we have received this week is for a resin bonded resurfacing as opposed to a resin bound surfacing.
This client in Blidworth lives in a 150 year old stone cottage. Beautiful setting, but to the rear of the property is an old uneven path which is proving to be a bit of a liability for the client. Our client wants the surface to be a more even area and non slip. Equally a virtually maintenance free area. Minimum time and disruption being an additional important stipulation.
In our opinion resin bonded resurfacing is the way as it meets all this criteria. Resin bound gravel maintenance as we have said is a must, and due to the clients advancing years we would not recommend resin bound gravel as it can be slippery and needs maintenance. This is where we would install resin bonded gravel.
Our suggestion is that we would be able level out the area, rebedding and cutting out and repairing as required. We would then be able to resurface the whole area and ensure uniformity with our resin bonded gravel. This would not affect existing levels and it would offer an anti slip and virtually weed free surface. The anti slip qualities of the resin bonded aggregate will serve this client well in winter time. Our choice of aggregate from your specialist supplier would compliment the stone property.
