Mansfield pothole gone mad
This Mansfield pothole gone mad causes a road closure according to the Mansfield and Ashfield Chad in today’s report?
The report goes on to say
“A street in Mansfield has been closed off after a sink hole appeared in the middle of the road.
Police have blocked off a section of Normanton Drive, off Eakring Road, after a section of the road collapsed this morning, Wednesday 4th February.
Measuring about a foot wide, one woman who lives almost opposite the hole, described it as being like an ‘underground cave’.
Jane Anderson said: “It was a neighbour who spotted it, but it wasn’t there when we went out this morning at 9.30am.
“When you look into it, it looked like an underground cave, it looks like it’s been excavated.
“What’s worrying is that it looks like nothing is supporting the road surface. It’s frightening
“If the road had been covered in snow you would not have known it was there. This is a heavily-used road.”
Indeed, parents use the road to pick up their children from the nearby Abbey Road Primary School.
Nottinghamshire County Council say they are now investigating the sink hole and will determine if it is the result of a burst pipe, which could mean Severn Trent Water may be responsible.”
It looks like there is nothing supporting the road surface is a bit of a concern?
I am sure within the last 6 months there was a large hole in the middle of the road on Berry Hill Lane?
Was that a sinkhole? Who knows?
