block paving resin bonded stone covering Ravenshead
We are regularly contacted to be asked about block paving resin bonded stone covering and the options available. Well to put it simply there are none. Or at least there should be none.
We had a recent enquiry from a caller in Ravenshead saying that a company had offered to complete a block paving resin bonded stone covering for their driveway. They had had a quote provided and the installers had said that the existing block paving surface was fine as a base for the resin bonded stone. Evidently there were a few low spots where the block paving had already sunk, but the company were stating that the block paving resin bonded stone covering would be fine as it was porous and this would alleviate any standing water issues.
We totally disagree with this for a number of reasons.
Resin bonded stone is not porous resin bound stone is
You cannot provide a block paving resin bonded stone covering for a non monolithic surface when a vehicle is going to use the surface.
Blocks can move independently and this would in turn stress the resin therefore potentially causing breaks and cracks in the resin.
Resin bonded stone and resin bound paving both require good sound solid surfaces such as concrete, tarmac and imprinted concrete.
Remember we can complete works in a day, no mess and no disruption.
