Resin bonded resurfacing is extremely hardwearing. The primary use is for installation onto tarmac and concrete surfaces . Resin bonded installs can work for walkways and paths not just driveways.
With the heatwave we have experienced over the past few weeks there are no worries with our resin bonded stone. It is resistant to temperatures of up to 50°c for long periods of time.
Aftercare and maintenance required is minimal. A stiff brush to remove excess aggregate together with the occasional jetwash is all that is required.
Completed in a day and the lack of needing a skip are quite important advantages. Minimal disruption to access to the area being resurfaced.
Resin bonded stone uses urethane (Polyurethane) resins. These are copolymers consisting of polyol and isocyanate components. They have excellent adhesion to various substrates and high elasticity. Since these polymers can be designed to match the characteristics needed, they are broadly used in various applications such as coatings, fibers, films, and metal treatment.
General Characteristics of Urethane Resins (Polyurethane)
- Excellent adhesion to substrates
- High film elasticity
- Good balance of elongation and hardness
