Mansfield Woodhouse  Nottinghamshire enquiry received for resin bonded stone aka resin bonded aggregate

This gentleman had a mix of driveway surfaces  – concrete and tarmac and a hardcore section.  He had  contacted us to find out if we could help.

With the wonders of the internet and a brief discussion we are able to establish the feasibility of this and unforntuately this was too far deteriorated for us to be able to help.resin bonded stone aka resin bonded aggregate

On looking at the image online  we could clearly see that a complete rip out would be required.

Whilst our resin bonded stone aka resin bonded aggregate is a quick and speedy installation  as it  uses existing surfaces – resin bonded stone aka resin bonded aggregate is  not  a one shoe fits  all option  though. Unfortunately.garden ideas

Being based in the East Midlands we are able to access four counties easily from our base – Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Yorkshire. Chesterfield, Mansfield, Ripley, Swanwick, Heanor, Derby, Sheffield, Kirkby in Ashfield  we can access all of these areas.

Out to show a few of our ideas to a new garden design project in Nottinghamshire. This client has quite definite ideas which enables us to get a basic  starting point.

Sunday morning meeting with our Nottinghamshire client.  Part of the brief is to keep and incorporate some of the original trees and shrubs that are overgrown and neglected. A patio possibly to  complete  in honed slate slabs. Our ideas such as  a 2 tier level,  set with recessed led lighting.  To set  lawn  to some  some areas but bordered out in natural stone setts .  Possibly to form pathways which we can then resurface in resin bonded stone aka resin bonded aggregate  in a  grey bauxite finish that will work well with slate.

A raised bed could be installed which may help cut costs when it comes to the removal of any removed materials as it could be used for drainage for  the bed. Mirrored screens could be considered to mask a vegetable plot but to also reflect back into the garden area.

All at an early stage but a very interesting project to work on.

Resin bonded stone aka resin bonded aggregate is fairly new alternative to the driveway sector for the residential sector.  However it is fast becoming a popular durable, weed and maintenance free option that can protect and extend the life of your existing surface.

driveway surface option resin bonded aggregate

Tuesday  we visited a  potential client in Worksop Nottinghamshire.  Their old concrete driveway was not really in too bad a condition.  Just old and unsightly. The client had completed some work online to establish what driveway surface option they could consider. Resin bonded gravel had come up as an alternative.  This client also had concrete paths to the side elevation of the property which they were also considering sorting out.driveway surface options

  • Imprinted concrete
  • Tarmac
  • Concrete
  • Block paving
  • Paving slabs
  • Grass

Our client didn’t want the  maintenance requirements  with a driveway surface option of block paving.  Weeds and a seal coat being issued. This client had looked at other alternative options such as imprinted concrete for example.  The fact that this would also  require a seal coat on a regular basis to maintain and ensure longevity put this client off.  Driveway surface options all have a down side in some way.  External surfaces have to be able to withstand the Winters.  Tarmac and concrete were considered but at the back of this client’s mind, they did not want the mess and disruption involved with a brand new installation.    We quoted to resurface with our  resin bonded aggregate  finish in 2-5mm resin bonded stone golden pea.

driveway surface optionThe garden element to this driveway was also a consideration as now with so many permeable options being available water management needs to be a consideration.  With the resin bonded resurfacing options we always look at the wider picture not just the driveway surface options.  The garden being a consideration together with drainage.

resin bound paving Nottingham

resin bound paving Nottingham

Been on a quote today in Stapleford.  This potential client has an old concrete driveway that has been resurfaced with tarmac.  He had been investigating options with regard to resin bound paving Nottingham.   In addition there was a  side extension completed  at the same time which over the years had dropped.  This was  obviously due to an insufficient sub base when installation  works were  first carried out.  All in all it was all looking very shabby. In addition because of the  levels being out of line and the  drainage being  very poor we suggested  the best answer would be to rip out and remove  everything and start again.

A new concrete slabs was suggested. Then after a curing period resurfacing in 2-5mm golden pea resin bonded stone to finish it off could be applied.

Preparing areas ready for laying lawn turf  has been on the agenda in addition to the resin bound paving Nottingham enquiry.  We made a border of 150 x 150 tumbed natural stone setts which were laid several weeks ago. Applied a 6 inch layer of screeded topsoil which will be levelled and slightly compacted.  Finished off with a generous scattering of fish blood and bone and a good watering.  Not a very pleasant smell but an exceptional nutrient to compliment root development from the new turf.

Driveways, paths and patios can be part of your garden and resin bound paving, resin bonded aggregate and resin bonded stone can all be incorporated in garden designs and developments

This client  had very old badly spalled concrete driveway which over the past 3 winters has continued to deteriorate due to the freeze thaw effect and the heavy use of salt in icy weather . Drainage issues have been cured with the use of a soakaway channel  which was cut out of existing concrete.  Lots of filling and trowelling to fill bad surface.  The customer went for the 2-5mm golden pea resin bonded stone finish which was duly laid and finished within the day.   Another highly delighted customer.

anti slip resin bonded aggregate

anti slip resin bonded aggregate driveway completed in a day

Quite a bad slope on this concrete job  which had  created quite a few issues  slipperiness and moss in general but more so in  winter time.  The client had had a knee replacement   and therefore stability in movement was a bit an issue for this client.  Anti slip resin bonded aggregate was to be the solution.

In addition to the requirement for an anti slip resin  bonded aggregate driveway the client had paths he wanted to incorporate into the works.Drive-Cote Ltd anti slip resin bonded aggregate concrete before anti slip resin bonded aggregate anti slip resin bonded aggregate completed anti slip resin bonded aggregate by Drive-Cote Ltd

There were slight  inconsistencies  in levels of bays which were filled and feathered back creating a more uniform and safe surface.  This also helped in reducing the slips trips and falls hazard currently there.  The clients requirement was for a low maintenance  surface and this is certainly what an anti slip resin bonded aggregate driveway  can provide.

The previous winters had highlighted parking issues. Whilst it was possible to park, the clients themselves were not comfortable at parking on the slope particularly  in icy conditions.  Not just from the vehicle aspect  but from the vulnerability of possibly slipping in the winter conditions.

One of the benefits our services is the anti slip resin bonded aggregate driveway qualities afforded by our Drive-Cote Ltd product.

This week has created a few different scenarios with regards to the weather. This time of year normally requires early starts for anti slip resin bonded aggregate installations. This week however the sun was a slow burner, so our team were able to have a lie in and start later in the day.

This client now has an anti-slip resin bonded aggregate driveway and path.  No real mess or disruption on installation and all completed in a day. Drive on the same day if required.  Even the penguins at Edinburgh  Zoo  approve of resin and it’s uses.  So whether it is concrete, imprinted concrete, tarmac and even paving slabs in some cases, we can resurface.  Whether it is for a path, driveway or patio we can help. Remember weed free and maintenance free. No mess and no disruption.  Don’t let the weather deteriorate your surface

The problems encounters previously will now be reduced to a minimal level.

anti slip resin driveway

Busy week finished.   Drive-Cote ltd enquiries in Derby and Nottingham   with a local concrete driveway resurfaced to provide an anti slip resin driveway

Garden design on the go as well.  It is nice to be able to start a project from scratch and see it come to fruition.  (Still working on the large garden project in Mansfield.  This being a nice steady ongoing contract)

The anti slip resin driveway was for  a concrete surface  which was very poor on levels but  structurally sound . In need of some tlc.

The weather has been a bit hit and miss for us, but due to the fact that we can complete in a day, with minimal mess and disruption  we are able to complete our works.

Called out to revisit a quote we went to see in Derby over 3 years ago. This is not a straight forward one though as the concrete he currently has down is not really suitable.

The concrete is a fairly new surface but  laid by a cowboy builder (his words)  approximately 70 sqm  with no expansion joints,  laid only to a 50 to 60mm thickness  (not enough for a vehicle) no proper shuttering installed.  Originally the builder laid it by himself using a scaffolding  pole to tamp and finish. Which is not  the right way.  Resulting in a very bad finish.

Customer refused to pay the  builder  who then ordered a pallet of self levelling compound .  This was trowelled on and improved the  look and provided visually a better finish.  The  customer  duly paid.    Subsequently over the forthcoming months  cracking and spalling developed.

This Derby customer has on-going claims with original  installer  and is awaiting  the outcome of a  court case. This will establish if relaying is going to be the requirement.  However the client is aware that he may not win.  He is therefore looking  at the  options available. An anti slip resin driveway being a consideration.

One of the major benefits of concrete is its durability  if laid correctly.  However the aesthetics are not always the best.

Concrete, tarmac, imprinted concrete and block paving are all good solid surfaces if laid correctly and this is why an anti slip resin driveway resurfacing is an excellent option.

Concrete and tarmac require little maintenance but due to the absorption elements they can,  over a period of time be subject to weeds and deterioration.    Imprinted concrete and block paving both require maintenance to ensure longevity.  With an anti slip resin driveway these  problems are virtually eliminated.  So if it is a resin bonded driveway or resin bonded path you are interested in call us now for a free no obligation quote.

We have been working within  the local area for over 12 years now.  An anti slip resin driveway can protect and extend the life of your existing concrete, imprinted concrete  or tarmac surface.

We have show homes in Derbyshire,  Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire and in towns local to you Belton,  Blidworth,  Burntwood, Chesterfield, Clipstone, Cromford, East Bridgford,  Gawber,  Kilburn, Long Eaton, Mapperley, New Tupton, Nottingham, Pinxton, Ruddington, Shafton, Stapleford, Sutton in Ashfield Tuxford, West Bridgford, Wirksworth, Sherwood, Arnold  and Kirkby in Ashfield.

Resin driveway information call now

Resin driveway information call now

Have been out to revisit a Lincolnshire enquiry who had previously had resin driveway information but I needed to revisit at their request.

This client originally  came to us  looking at the possibilities of  a  resin bound resurfacing  quote for  an old red tarmac driveway.  However on discussing the requirements and the existing surface we explained that due to the porosity of the resin bound application we would not advocate this.  As a result of this we were able to provide them with resin driveway information but for the bonded not the bound

The house had been rendered and unfortunately the plasterer  had made a mess and marked the tarmac.  It is possible to remove the marks but probably not without evidence of some form of spillage.

The actual tarmac was solid and sound but it did have moss growth which did was causing a bit of an issue with being slippy in Winter.

When I first priced for this client and provided them with the resin driveway information they were quite happy with the size and basic existing area. There was a lawned area to the side of the driveway and with the installation of a resurfacing job this would tidy the whole area up.

However after perusing our details and price, the client had decided that whilst having a resin bonded resurfacing potential, then this would be a good opportunity to increase the area, maintain the existing but also make the whole area look uniform.  Who know perhaps this client could rent out this driveway which seems to be becoming increasingly popular, resin driveway information

This benefit is not provided by the usual driveway products such as tarmac, concrete, imprinted concrete or block paving.

On calling round the client was looking towards a narrow extension piece approximately 3 ft wide and 3m length.  This would give the client a little more room to swing the car into the garage.   We have priced for this and look forward to receiving the ok on this in the next few weeks.

Being based in Mansfield in the East Midlands we are ideally positioned to serve four counties Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.

Resin Bonded aggregate works for this local university

Resin Bonded aggregate works for this local university

Called out to quote for a local Nottingham  builder who has a contract possibility for resin bonded aggregate works for this local university.  Thursday 25 July 2013  was the date we set – so met up for the site meeting and he took us a tour round.  It is a very large site full of areas requiring varying degrees of work – from concrete to tarmac and slabbing.  From complete rip outs to minor repairs and remedials.

This resin bonded aggregate works for this local university was for the application of resin bonded stone to a road way entrance.  This entrance was for access to a restricted area on the university campus.   Whilst not requiring a heavy duty application  for this resin bonded aggregate works,  an ability to withstand regular traffic is certainly a requirement.

Not a large job for the resin bonded aggregate works for this local university, but a need on their part due to the restricted access and the resin will highlight this to the road user.

Whilst there we did notice areas of resin bonded aggregate which had been laid previously and we gather this was via  a commercial national installer but we are not aware of who.

resin bonded aggregate works resin bonded aggregate works for a local university commercial works for resin bonded aggregate Resin Bonded aggregate works for this local university

On close inspection we are of the opinion that it had been poorly laid.  There were lots of runs .  This can happen when the resin is applied at a high temperature and management of the application for the resin bonded aggregate works is not dealt as well as it should be.

In addition there were ridges and signs of the resin bubbling through and the aggregate used is not a size we would advocate.  We believe it was 1-3 Autumn Gold which is far too fine in our opinion.  It had the appearance of sand.  Due to the regular car and lorry traffic it was slowly being reduced to dust.  Also the finer the stone the less impact with regard to the anti slip properties, but then that is not always a  priority for the client or circumstance.

However, we were not there to quote for this, but it is quite interesting to see the difference between installers both commercial and residential with regard to resin bonded gravel installations.

Will be writing this up for the builder later and hopefully, he may be in with a shout.

This Nottingham builder has completed quite a number of commercial contracts including local authority works over a number of years and this is how he had found Drive-Cote  – as we are listed as  registered installers of resin bonded aggregate works.

Calverton referral by local garden landscaper

August 2nd, 2013

Calverton referral by local garden landscaper.

About a year or so ago  a local garden landscaper who has a number of  regular clients contacted us to provide a quote for a local Kirkby in Ashfield client. This Calverton referral by local garden landscaper means we are able to work with local businesses.

He was quite adamant that we treat the enquiry with care as they had been unhappy with a previous builder and the works.

This kind referral resulted in a job we completed in Kirkby in Ashfield.

As a gardener and landscaper he was aware of the difficulties some of his clients have with regards to the ability in their garden and homes.  One of the key benefits of the resin bonded resurfacing is the low maintenance and the minor disruptions our works can provide.

Steve has been back in touch and referred us to a Calverton client, so we have sent some details out for their perusal and if they wish we can then quote.  At this stage our assumption is that they have existing surfaces and if they do that they are suitable.

We have sent some details out to this Calverton enquiry.Calverton referral by local garden landscaper

The use of resin bonded and resin bound has increased massively over the last few years, but care must be taken to make sure that the right product is used for the right surface and purpose.  Both resin bound and resin bonded have anti slip properties but the resin bonded has a more aggressive quality.

We completed a Calverton job some years ago, so we will be able to direct this enquiry there if they do wish to view a local job.

The previous Calverton job was the driveway path and patio and  very kindly provided us with a handwritten testimonial.

Remember concrete tarmac, imprinted concrete, path, patio or driveway we can provide you with free no obligation quotes.

Concrete driveway Arnold for resurfacing

Concrete driveway in Arnold resurfaced with resin bonded aggregateConcrete driveway Arnold for resurfacing

Lads prepped our next job to complete.  This is an old concrete driveway Arnold which has badly spalled.

This is occurring more and more over the years due to the  severe winters we seem to be experiencing .

The freeze thaw effect is what it is known as.  There is also a pathway and rear patio once again in concrete.  This had been painted over the years so has been sealed  to some degree.  This fortunately  has  prevented deterioration from being to the extent  it is one the driveway.DSCN4274

DSCN4280

Lads when  using our specialist filler,  had to work pretty quick as it was curing in 20 minutes whereas normally it can take a couple of hours.  The high temperatures we have been experiencing bring their own difficulties as does the wet winter weather.  However with our 12 years experience, we are fully conversant with the complexities of the resin and its preparations.

Our concrete driveway Arnold customer has chosen the 2-5 mm golden pea resin bonded stone, which was installed very early on site

7am was order of the day, this was not only for the benefit of the resin but for the benefit of our lads.concrete driveway Arnold resufacing by Drive-Cote Ltd

All things running to plan meant they were all sorted by lunchtime.

Completed in a day!  Look how this is now!  Part of the garden now instead of just a driveway, path or patio

Not something that can be said about imprinted concrete, tarmac, block paving or paving slabs or  concrete.

resin bonded aggregate by Drive-Cote Ltd

Been called to assist a previous local Mansfield customer with regard to the sale of their property and works completed with resin bonded aggregate by Drive-Cote Ltd

Over 10 years ago this Mansfield driveway  had  a resin bonded aggregate by Drive-Cote Ltd installed. This client wanted us to just address a few areas which the client thought needed addressing before the sale.

What an opportunity to return to a 10 year old  Mansfield job  one of our local resin bonded aggregate by Drive-Cote Ltd and see how it has stood the test of time and more importantly the elements, weather and seasons.Resin Bonded Aggregate by Drive-Cote Ltd

This natural driveway with a detailed bauxite border, firstly needed a through power wash.  One of the benefits of a resin bonded aggregate by Drive-Cote Ltd  is the ability to clean resin very easily.

Once jet washed and brushed down a few areas the size of a 50p piece  needed touching up.  Probably caused by snow shovel damage, however after 10 years I think it fair to say that the resin bonded aggregate by Drive-Cote Ltd would have a few scars.

The price of a resin drive can be less than some people pay per sqm for carpet.  This  return visit just reinforces the massive advantages of using a resurfacing option for concrete, imprinted concrete and tarmac  –  it not only protects the existing surface but also provides anti slip and attractive properties.

  • Virtually maintenance free
  • Eliminates weed growth
  • Anti slip
  • Can be completed in a day
  • Uses existing surfaces such as concrete, imprinted concrete and  tarmac

Remember no sealing  required!  If water cannot get through then weeds cannot grow through.  So whether a drives, path or patio, we can resurface.
