Resurfacing Existing Concrete, Tarmac and Imprinted Concrete Surfaces
We have been working with Resin for the past 12 years and continue to promote the benefits.
A couple of recent jobs we have completed in Bolsover and Hucknall have proved their worth. Both these jobs required minimum levels of interruption. One of the jobs – the resident was disabled so access was even more critical. The other job had steps and involved quite a few levels so even though quite demanding for our lads, it means that the anti slip properties of the Resin will serve this customers well over winter time.
We were asked to install a step and as we try and aim to keep costs and disruption to a minimum for our customers. we were able to install a speedy but sturdy step for them – ensuring easier access.
We have recently also been asked to call out at a job (completed by another company) as it appears it is not up to the job, but obviously we cannot comment really on it and things do go wrong, but it is the putting right that we consider to be one of the key elements.
A recent customer of ours very kindly sent us a letter of appreciation and would like to share this nugget as it really was a very nice letter and all credit due to our workforce. So I this will be online in the next few days.
In our trade the weather and its variables can cause us quite a headache, but the beauty of resurfacing existing concrete, tarmac and imprinted concrete is the fact that we only require small windows of access. That said we do still have to be careful.

Mansfield people are not very often subject to landslides! Seeing the report in the Mansfield Chad came as a bit of a shock.
The report states that 7 tonnes of rock fell just yards from a row of homes!
Mansfield District Council has employed a ground engineering firm Halcrow -to survey the area.
Evidently when the Mansfield properties were built the builders made sure there was a buffer zone in place.
Martin Thurman of Mansfield District Council has requested a detailed study which hopefully will allay any fears. Depending on the result, they can then take any necessary course of action.
What does concern us is not just for Mansfield area, but the Country as a whole.
The construction of these quarry properties – as with any “changes” in the land – surely will have an impact on surrounding areas?
As a driveway company we are respectful of the requirements with hard landscaping areas being laid (which is one of the reasons we work with Resin Bonded Stone – it uses the existing surface)
However you would think that the “installation” of hundreds of properties (and there are in the area where this Mansfield landslide happened) that this would have a more detrimental impact than driveway installations.

That asside Martin Thurman of Mansfield District Council has said “We’ve received a mixed reaction from residents because there are whose who live at the Cliff top and those who live at the bottom”.
Mansfield seems to be becoming a vastly dense area with housing dominating large previously untouched land.

Resin Bonded Aggregate is designed to combat the boring look of concrete, imprinted concrete and tarmac and to protect against any or further deterioration of a surface from the weather.
However until the installation is in place the weather still likes to create an impact! Usually on our ability to install!
Our supplier is constantly trying to come up with a “wet weather” installation process. The surface we install on has to be dry and the weather has to be kind (only for a few hours though) for the resin to adhere. Unfortunately our supplier has not achieved this. YET !!
A couple of the jobs we have completed recently have been successful due to our 12 years experience and our ability to assess and monitor the weather and work with it. This enables us to install a Resin Bonded Aggregate surface competently.
This fairly large job sectional concrete driveway, path and patio and garage floor had all been down a few years. Our clients were keen to have a low maintenance non slip option and Resin Bonded Aggregate suits this dictate perfectly (anti skid surfacing road specification, stiff brush and jet wash is all that is necessary). Difficulties with mobility being quite problem for them SO …………………
Our Resin Bonded Aggregate solved the problem. The basic structure of the surface unchanged
We were able to fully resurface the whole area in 1 day! No disruption to our clients!

with a Resin Bonded Stone makeover. Looks like new!
Not all works we complete have the basic surface all ready to go. We are very often required to address imperfections, inadequacies or inconsistencies with a surface – this could be a driveway path or a patio. It may be the concrete driveway or surface has
Various scenarios can require a little thought and planning, but really if the concrete driveway surface that is down is structurally sound we can work with it.
A concrete driveway laid correctly is a solid construction and should last for at least 30 years. The mess and cost and the need to dispose of the waste – all add to the disruption in having a new surface laid.
With Resin Bonded Resurfacing for a concrete driveway you can minimise this – if not eliminate this.
Concrete driveways provide the perfect base for Resin Bonded Stone ( or Resin Bonded Gravel and Aggregate as it is also known).
As with a lot of building works we are weather dependant. However with our 12 years of experience and specialist knowledge in the application and use of Resin Bonded Stone for residential driveways, paths and patios, we try and aim to accommodate dates and time lines where possible.
This client very kindly sent us a letter on the 14 September 2012 an extract of which is below
“Dear Simon/Faith
Please find enclosed cheque as balance of payment for works to our driveway completed today.
Could I also express our thanks on an excellent job, we are both very impressed with the finished item, it has totally transformed our drive”.
Always free quotes. We don’t employ salesman. It is our business – Simon and Faith. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Dear Mr Mordey
We are writing to thank you and your 3 workers who completed our drive yesterday. Please compliment them on their hard work, politeness and approach to their task. We are very pleased with the finished result. A vast improvement of what was there before. Once again, thankyou.

have become more poular over the last few years. This may be as a result of more knowledge about Resin and its properties or it may just be the fact that we have been working with Resin Bonded Aggregate Driveways Mansfield for over 10 years.
We have recently completed a couple of local Mansfield jobs one on tarmac and one on concrete (the details of which are below)
One Resin Bonded Aggregate Driveways Mansfield was recently completed for tired and old concrete. Our customer found us through local advertising ( we do not cold call ). We as a local company understand appreciate this – particularly with a recent report in the Mansfield Chad (about a couple being the victim of con-men).
Our client took up one of our short notice availability slots. At Drive-Cote Ltd we try and work within our clients requirements where possible. For example – if they are going away and want works completing then. Similarly if they don’t want works completing then!
This Mansfield clients concrete drive had been down a long time and the weather had taken it’s toll. In addition section of concrete had been added to extend the drive.
Mike and the lads set to and filled where necessary (our filler is a special epoxy material is flexible which means it moves with the expansion of the surface). When they have completed the Resin Bonded Aggregate driveway works on this concrete drive there are no more sections showing, no more cracks. A uniform, anti slip, protective and durable surface. Brand New with out having to remove the existing. No mess! No disruption!
Our clients are now free to upgrade the gravel section to compliment their new Resin Bonded Aggregate Driveway.
Our clients very kindly submitted a letter of appreciation in respect of their concrete resurfacing works. It is always nice to receive such acknowledgements. We hope it provides a testimony not only to the service that we provided, but to our local workforce as well.

We at Drive-Cote Ltd have been working on a few Resin Bonded Aggregate Driveway projects over the last few weeks.
A couple of these works have been in the Jacksdale and Newthorpe areas and we have given a little information on them and a few pictures.
I always try and get Mike and the lads to take some “before and after” so you can see what a difference the Resin Bonded Aggregate Driveway resurfacing can make.
This first Resin Bonded Aggregate Driveway project at Jacksdale they forgot to take the before photos, but, as they constantly remind me – the priority is to get the job done and correctly, and our portfolio is secondary. I can’t argue with that so I let them off!
This particular job was with really old tarmac which had deteriorated and which virtually had no edge to it in places. Our builders edged out where necessary, reinstating and re bedding as necessary- the last picture on the top row shows this. We then resurfaced the whole area in a Natural Buff Resin Bonded Aggregate finish, extending the life of the existing surface of the driveway and protecting it further.
This imprinted concrete driveway, path and patio at Newthorpe was particularly difficult in Winter – the slipperiness of the surface was the problem. Not only that maintenance was a must not only to try and impede the slipperiness but to maintain the imprinted concrete. The infill of slate you can see in the pictures was a suggestion by Drive-Cote Ltd as there was this small gap which was also a bit of a hazard. The freeze and thaw process can be particularly damaging to imprinted concrete if a seal is not applied. Our customer with their new Resin Bonded Aggregate driveway and path no longer have this problem or requirement. As with all Resin Bonded Aggregate driveways paths and patios a quick wash and stiff brush is all that is required.

Permeable paving solutions – current legislation is “promoting” the use of this for homeowners wanting hard standing areas – not because permeable paving is a must but because the discharge of surface water needs to be addressed.
Water can damage your existing surfaces very much like it does on the roads causing potholes.
According to Nottingham County Council in March of this year they intended to surface dress ( a low cost treatment of spraying on a coating of bitumen to waterproof followed by one or more layers of stone chippings ) 50 miles of road to restore skid resistance.
This process prevents the ingress of water which can seep into the road foundation and weaken it reducing the further development of potholes. They say it is up to ten times cheaper than other methods of restoring the road surfaces. It provides good resistance to skidding on smooth or slippery roads.
Councillor Richard Jackson, the county council’s cabinet member for highways and transport says there is a misconception that such works are completed as they cannot afford to do the job properly. Not so says the councillor
Back in January of this year a BBC news report stated the freezing weather and snow causes more potholes to appear in the uk’s roads than usual http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8453969.stm – – why – because
“Potholes are formed by water penetrating the asphalt surface of a road through cracks caused by traffic. When temperatures plunge, the water freezes, expands and causes the surface to rupture. When the ice melts, it leaves a void below the surface, which caves in under the stress of vehicles and eventually forms a pothole”
This situation can be replicated on your driveway.
If however permeable paving replaces a non permeable surface then there is still the potential for a freeze thaw effect and the feasibility of weeds.
Permeable paving needs to be realistic in the first place e.g is it a primarily clay area if so could the dissipation of the water be a problem anyway? The important consideration is the surface water and managing it correctly -but that does not necessarily mean porous paving and surfaces. Bog gardens and Eco drains together with impermeable surfaces such as Resin Bonded Gravel for example can work well together. It is all about careful thought before implementation.
I did find whilst on my investigations two websites which you may find useful if you do have major issues in your area with potholes on the road
http://www.potholes.co.uk/ http://www.fixmystreet.com/ They are places you can go report problems to.

Hi Simon and Faith
We had our drive coated with your product in 2010 which we are delighted with. You completed the resurfacing of our concrete and what a difference. Unfortunately on Monday 13 August 2012 of this week I noticed that in three places there was a slight lifting of the resin. I contacted your company the same day and explained the problem,.
In the afternoon of the same day to my amazement we had a visit from your team who examined the problem and said that they would repair it as soon as weather permitted. On Wednesday same week we had a phone call to let us know the team were on their way and would be with us in the hour, which they were.
The problem has been rectified with little disruption and I would like to thank you all for your prompt and efficient service.
Your after sales service could not be better
Many Thanks
Jackie
